Face of the games

Clyde might be the official mascot of Glasgow 2014 but a much-loved local icon has rapidly become the unofficial face of the games.

Sat astride his trusty steed Copenhagen and wearing his trademark traffic cone hat at a jaunty angle, the Duke of Wellington welcomes visitors to the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow’s Royal Exchange Square.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and it seems that the Iron Duke’s sartorial flair for headgear has sparked the interest of fashionistas attending the Commonwealth Games. These fans were showing their love of his distinctive style at the Rugby Sevens session on Saturday night.
