I’m working up the courage to audition for Britain’s Got Talent.
I sing constantly when I’m all by myself (the shower has particularly good acoustics). I’m no Susan Boyle but I’m pretty sure that I can carry a tune. At least that’s what the mister tells me (if I was really bad, he would say to put a sock in it, right?) And I’m versatile. I can sing songs from all kinds of genres: pop, country, musical theatre, hip hop. Well, maybe not the last one.
But the whole BGT audition process seems so daunting, what with those buzzers and the rather gladiatorial nature of the live audience. Even the calming presence of Ant and Dec might not be enough to get me onto the stage.
On reflection, then, perhaps I should just start with facing up to a karaoke machine.
